The new iPhone4 Canadian scoop!

iPhone4 Canadian Scoop

http://static.phonesreview.co.uk/wp-content/phoneimages/2010/06/canadaiphone4.jpg
If you have not had a chance to check out the latest news on the iPhone4 in the U.S., you have come to the right place! Why talk about the iPhone4? Well because it is going to be released into Canada late July ( around July 23rd the rumors are saying ), and you need to know the facts before you go ahead and buy the new iPhone, or "upgrade" as some of you may be due.

Since the release of the iPhone4, Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone's in 3 days! Obviously that shows there are a lot of Apple fans out there, but something happened very quickly to those 1.7 million people. All over the map, people have been reporting that the cell phone reception on the new iPhone has been terrible. Why? Because people are holding the phone! What? Say that again... People are loosing the reception on their iPhones because they are holding it. Why? Because the antenna is wrapped around the phone, and when people hold it, it looses reception. Not only that, but people have been receiving their iPhones with volume buttons being mixed up on the side, yellow tints on the screen, and the iPhone shatters when it drops ( it is made mostly of the "durable glass" they are claimed to have ).

Now I am an Apple fan, that is without question. I have also owned quite a few iPhones since they even came out with the first gen ( all jailbroken/unlocked of course ). But the latest headlines of the new iPhone4 have not been making me want to even try and get one from the U.S. before it is released ( jailbroken or not ). To say the least, Apple should have seen this coming.....but here is where the story get's a lot more interesting.

Since the release of the iPad and the new iPhone, a company that has "a lot" of workers that make the said product, have been experiencing some intense times. Foxconn. This company does not just make Apple product's in Shenzen-China, but they make Dell, HP, Playstation 2/3, Microsoft, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 products...and the list goes on. Why tell you all of this? Well, there have been a lot people being over worked and underpaid in this company, and it is sad to say that people having been committing suicide throughout the company because of it. Not only that, but if someone "dies" as an employee, their family gets a good pay out because of their insurance. Foxconn was paying 110,000 Yuan ($16,100 U.S.) to the family of each person who dies. But as the suicides were increasing, Foxconn decided to stop paying families to try and stop the suicides, as well as putting up "safety nets" across the building so people wont jump. Some staff have passed away due to exhaustion from being forced to work 34 hour shifts.

Why tell you all of this? Well, as the new Apple products are coming out in Canada ( iPhone4 in late July ), and have a lot of flaws to them due to the harsh slave labor and software glitches, I hope you take time to research the product you are buying and not rush into getting the new iPhone4. There are reason's why the new product is not working out so great for everyone who buys them. If you can see the complication of making an order for 1.7million people within a short time span and placing that heavy work load on slave labor, then you can see why what you are about to buy, will have some flaws to it.

We are privileged to live in Canada.
Let us not forget it on Canada Day coming up.

A useful tip for you or your clients.

Let's just say you have an iPhone or iPad.....

http://whatwouldyoudowiththisroom.com/wp-content/uploads/NEW_SCREEN_SHOT1.png

I came across an amazing, very detailed app for the iPhone, and soon to be iPad.
This app is called, "Mark On Call" and it was made for home designers, or people who want to become home designers. This app gives you literally everything you need to make that specific design you have been thinking of, or help some one else with their own home, on your phone!

I give this app a lot of credit because I know what it takes to make an app. I am an app designer myself and to over view what this app actually does......means thousands of lines of code. If that does not make much sense to you, the best way to describe it is letting you know that it took a lot of time to make this app work perfectly.

To see the app in action check out the video HERE.

To have a bat cave HOME movie theater, with full on leather lazy-boys to boot, this place would sure have an advantage on Michelle Phifer....if you could get her to come over to your house.

Home's to last a really really long time...

http://files.couponsnapshot.com/merImage/1239343816.gif

I came across a company that I thought wasn't all that interesting. But then, as I researched further, I began to realize that this is an idea not to be missed.

Aeonian bricks is a company in the U.S. that specializes in making interlocking bricks that are clay based, certified in 34 states, waterproof, fireproof, termite and insect-proof, soundproof, mold and mildew-proof, insulates the home, saves energy and withstands hurricane and tornado force winds up to 240 mph with no structural damage.

An Aeonian Brick home will protect you and your family during the worst weather conditions. It is also one of the greenest construction materials that exists on the market today.

Their interlocking design and shape is what allows people to build a wall that can withstand hurricane force winds up to 240 mph.

Sound's crazy right? I thought the same thing!

Although they need a bit of a touch up on their web site, the technology that has been put together to create homes out of these bricks, needs to be the next step of all homes in the future.

Being able to reduce, or even eliminate clear cutting tree's is a great way to save the environment and bring more efficiency to the future of building.

The best way to manage your business.

http://venturebeatprofiles.com/ugenimage/logo/company_7326/51477.png
Managing your expenses and taxes for your business just got a whole lot easier!

I came across this great idea that I know would help a lot of people running their business.
The company is called "outright" and it's focus is to help people manage all of their finance information that they need. From expenses to profit, and yes even taxes.
The program is all digital and is done online. You can link all of your accounts to the program and see your information in chart form and then work out all of the tax information that you need each year.

It was about time that someone came up with this idea to help people organize so that they can get back doing business and less paper work. It is great to see that there is a continual move to cutting "paper work" down and keeping people organized these days. Companies waste so much paper and spend too much time getting it all organized. Now with outright, you can make things a whole lot easier!

You can check out their video description here.

Square up your mobile payments anywhere!

http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/tech/story_large/2009/12/05/squareup_logo.jpgTo square, or not to square. That is the transaction!

One day, a guy named Jack Dorsey came up with an idea. I am not to sure how this conversation went with himself, or one of his friends, but I imagine it went something like this. "Man, wouldn't it be great if you could cut out the middle man that charges you so much money to have a transaction machine, not have to have a merchant account, have any one buy something from you with their credit card/receive their payment immediately, and have it all done on your phone? Yes that would be awesome! Let's make it happen!"

I introduce to you, Square!
Square is an iPhone app that will allow you to sell anything that you want, anywhere, anytime, and have the person buying your item, use their credit card. There have been other apps out there that you could type in the person's credit card number and take payments that way. But with that app, you needed a merchant number. With Square, you will not need a merchant number to sell anything that you want. All you need is an iPhone, the Square app, and the Square card slider. Yes, you can slide a person's credit card right on your iPhone and presto, their payment is received immediately!

It gets a lot better! The person using the credit card will have their picture pop up on your phone so you can see if it is the correct person using it. The user can also sign for the transaction and have the receipt e mailed to them electronically and geo-tagged so you can see where you purchased your item.
http://www.impactlab.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/1-squareup-763.jpg
People can sell anything with their iPhone, and people can buy anything if you are short on cash....with your iPhone.

You will soon see this stickerhttp://s2.tracked.com/static/rakedin_com//images/company/squareup.gifat every shop, garage sale, street meat stand, and even a kids lemonade stand so you can buy and sell to your heart's content.

The release date in Canada is coming soon, so keep your eyes pealed.
Check out their video's here - here - and here.
Enjoy!

From the ground Up: So you have an iPad?

http://a33.idata.over-blog.com/500x309/3/55/38/45/ipad.png
Tethering on the iPad

Since the new release of the iPad in Canada ( all models ) there has been a question brewing around. People have been wondering if you can tether on the iPad. “Whats that mean?”. Well, people today can tether the iPhone with their computer…if they have a decent data plan ( they can use their iPhone as a wifi source for their laptops…). Apple has made this possible with the iPhone….pretty much since day one. But with the iPad there has been the question if people can tether from their iPhone to the iPad so they dont have to buy a wifi model, pay the extra cash for it, and then pay the extra cash for a data plan. Well if you have a stock iPad…..and it isn’t jailbroken ( www.spiritjb.com ) then NOPE! You cannot. BUT…..if you have a jailbroken iPad, and a sweet data plan on your iPhone, then yes my friends, you can tether your iPhone to the iPad! How freakin cool is that? All non tech geeks and PC fans need not read all this…..

If you want to know what a jailbroken iPhone/iPad looks like….and what you can do with it….well check it out! I did some fun stuff with my iPhone….changed up the icons a bit, and the background and dock….pretty slick, I know!

I had a chance to talk to @RoryPiper today on twitter to ask him that very question.Who is RoryPiper? Well my friends he is known as the jailbreak/unlock guru…and yup, he is Canadian….and yup….he is a really friendly guy! www.ievolution.ca

“@RuhnDMC – have they come out with a hack that allows you to tether iPad with iPhone?…that be sweet!”

“@RoryPiper – Yes. If you purchase MyWi from Cydia, you can turn your iPhone into a WiFi hot spot, and connect your iPad to it.”

Rory is a guy that let me know that he doesn’t get paid for all the work that he does, and to me that is sad because I know that there are a lot of people that ask him for help, and he writes a heck of a lot of content in the blogosphere and for iphoneincanada.ca and ipadincanada.ca no idea how he survives though! Still a rad guy none the less!

Back to the topic!

http://modmyi.com/forums/attachments/new-skins-themes-launches/422483d1264726772-ielegance-icons-mywi.png

To get your iPad or iPhone jailbroken go the web site that was shown above www.spiritjb.com and get to work. If you do not know what you are doing then do some research or ask me any question that you need….or give the guys at ipad or iphone in canada.ca a PM and away you go….but id say do the research first! It’s not that hard……or again ask me a question and i’ll see what I can do.

So once again, if you have an iPad that is stock, you are out of luck for tethering to your iPhone….for now…unless Apple comes out with the ability later on……

The MyWi app in the Cydia store is $10.00 if i’m not mistaken. That price is great considering the price you would have to pay for a 3G model and then a data plan per month. So if you are on a sweet data plan with your iPhone……keep it…get it jailbroken….get MyWi……get a base model iPad wifi…..jailbreak it……tether away!

From the ground Up: Skype 3G

http://appadvice.com/appnn/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/skype_icon1.jpg

3G! So how much do you love using Skype? How much do you love using Skype on your iPhone? How many time’s did you wish you could just use it on your 3G data plan? Well, if you didn’t have your iPhone jailbroken, you couldnt have used your iPhone with Skype on 3G. If you had your iPhone jailbroken, you could purchase the app “My 3G” from the Cydia app store, like I did, and use it so that you can use Skype on 3G! So what that meant was, I could use my data plan on my iPhone, pay the 3$/month to Skype so that I can call anywhere in Canada and the U.S. unlimited, and I’m laughing!

But now, things have got better! Since the use of Voip being the first app on the iPhone to be allowed by Apple over 3G, there has been a bit of a snow ball affect with the other phone apps in the app store. Skype is now on the roster!

So now, with the data plan that you have, you can use the Skype app, use the account that your paying 3$/month for, and call people any where and any time for as long as you like in Canada or the U.S.! But what is the difference between Skype and Voip? Well with Voip you do get to use it over 3G, but what I found out is that there is a limited amount of time that you can be on the phone for, which makes sense because it is free to call anywhere in Canada and the U.S. But the thing is, the quality is not that clear. Skype on the other hand has had a few more improvements since it’s last version into the app store. The quality of the app is a lot better than last time and there are a few more new features on the app that were not there before.

Upgrades / improvements include:
- Call using your 3G connection. Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until at least end of 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).
- Near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS and 2nd generation iPod touch.
- Enhanced call quality indicator.
- Improved start-up time.
- Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.

Now that Skype can be used over 3G, you can start saving a lot more money on your monthly bill, and have fun using the program that Skype is! Happy Skyping!
