Since the release of the iPhone4, Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone's in 3 days! Obviously that shows there are a lot of Apple fans out there, but something happened very quickly to those 1.7 million people. All over the map, people have been reporting that the cell phone reception on the new iPhone has been terrible. Why? Because people are holding the phone! What? Say that again... People are loosing the reception on their iPhones because they are holding it. Why? Because the antenna is wrapped around the phone, and when people hold it, it looses reception. Not only that, but people have been receiving their iPhones with volume buttons being mixed up on the side, yellow tints on the screen, and the iPhone shatters when it drops ( it is made mostly of the "durable glass" they are claimed to have ).
Now I am an Apple fan, that is without question. I have also owned quite a few iPhones since they even came out with the first gen ( all jailbroken/unlocked of course ). But the latest headlines of the new iPhone4 have not been making me want to even try and get one from the U.S. before it is released ( jailbroken or not ). To say the least, Apple should have seen this coming.....but here is where the story get's a lot more interesting.
Since the release of the iPad and the new iPhone, a company that has "a lot" of workers that make the said product, have been experiencing some intense times. Foxconn. This company does not just make Apple product's in Shenzen-China, but they make Dell, HP, Playstation 2/3, Microsoft, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 products...and the list goes on. Why tell you all of this? Well, there have been a lot people being over worked and underpaid in this company, and it is sad to say that people having been committing suicide throughout the company because of it. Not only that, but if someone "dies" as an employee, their family gets a good pay out because of their insurance. Foxconn was paying 110,000 Yuan ($16,100 U.S.) to the family of each person who dies. But as the suicides were increasing, Foxconn decided to stop paying families to try and stop the suicides, as well as putting up "safety nets" across the building so people wont jump. Some staff have passed away due to exhaustion from being forced to work 34 hour shifts.
Why tell you all of this? Well, as the new Apple products are coming out in Canada ( iPhone4 in late July ), and have a lot of flaws to them due to the harsh slave labor and software glitches, I hope you take time to research the product you are buying and not rush into getting the new iPhone4. There are reason's why the new product is not working out so great for everyone who buys them. If you can see the complication of making an order for 1.7million people within a short time span and placing that heavy work load on slave labor, then you can see why what you are about to buy, will have some flaws to it.
Let us not forget it on Canada Day coming up.
